Overview
Ready to gain real-world experience in the business side of hospitality?
The Sales & Marketing Intern will gain hands-on exposure to the day-to-day operations of a hotel’s Sales, Revenue Management, Events, and Marketing teams. This role is a great way to learn how these departments work together to create successful guest experiences, generate business, and support hotel performance.
You’ll work alongside experienced hospitality professionals while helping manage inquiries, communicate with guests and clients, support meetings and events, and keep important sales and event information organized. You’ll also gain experience working with industry systems including Delphi FDC and Opera.
This internship provides a well-rounded introduction to hotel operations and the many career paths available within hospitality.
Responsibilities
• Answer telephone and email messages. Respond accordingly.
• Maintain and stay abreast of the latest computer programs/innovations (as applicable).
• Responsible for assisting in a smooth operation of the office.
• Greet guests/clients/employees when necessary.
• Attend meetings/training as required by management.
• Distributing of BEO’s daily change log, resume, site events, event guarantees if requested
• Take inquires and distribute
• Work with Delphi FDC and Opera
Qualifications
- 1 year experience in a hotel or related field preferred.
- Must reside in the market
- College course work in related field
- Able to effectively communicate both verbally and written, with all level of employees and guests in an attentive, friendly, courteous and service oriented manner.
- Effective at listening to, understanding, and clarifying concerns raised by employees and guests.
- Able to multitask and prioritize departmental functions to meet deadlines.
- Attend all hotel required meetings and trainings.
- Maintain regular attendance in compliance with Highgate Hotel Standards, as required by scheduling, which will vary according to the needs of the hotel.
- Maintain high standards of personal appearance and grooming.
- Comply with Highgate Hotel Standards and regulations to encourage safe and efficient hotel operations.
- Maximize efforts towards productivity, identify problem areas and assist in implementing solutions.
- Must be able to cross-train in other hotel related areas.
- Must be able to maintain confidentiality of information.
- Must be able to show initiative, including anticipating guest or operational needs.
- Perform other duties as requested by management.
