About the Role:

The Maintenance Assistant plays a crucial role in supporting the upkeep and smooth operation of facilities within the organization. This position involves assisting with routine maintenance tasks, troubleshooting minor issues, and ensuring that all equipment and infrastructure are functioning efficiently. The Maintenance Assistant works closely with the maintenance team to perform inspections, carry out repairs, and maintain a safe and clean environment. This role requires a proactive approach to identifying potential problems and contributing to solutions that minimize downtime and enhance operational reliability. Ultimately, the Maintenance Assistant helps to sustain the overall integrity and safety of the facility, supporting the organization's productivity and employee well-being.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Basic knowledge of maintenance procedures and safety practices.
  • Ability to use hand and power tools safely and effectively.
  • Good physical condition and ability to perform manual labor, including lifting and standing for extended periods.
  • Strong communication skills to follow instructions and report issues clearly.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in a maintenance or facilities support role.
  • Basic understanding of electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems.
  • Certification in occupational safety or related fields.
  • Familiarity with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS).
  • Valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in performing routine maintenance and repair tasks on building systems, equipment, and machinery.
  • Conduct regular inspections to identify maintenance needs and report issues to the maintenance supervisor.
  • Support the maintenance team in troubleshooting and resolving minor mechanical, electrical, and plumbing problems.
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, including work orders and inventory of supplies.
  • Ensure compliance with safety standards and protocols while performing maintenance duties.
  • Help maintain cleanliness and organization of maintenance tools, equipment, and work areas.
  • Respond promptly to maintenance requests and emergencies as directed.
