Our 2027 Finance Internship offers students the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a dynamic hospitality environment while learning from experienced Finance Leaders.
This internship is designed for students who are eager to learn, grow, build meaningful connections, gain real-world experience, strengthen your understanding of financials and gain hands on experience in the Hospitality Industry!
Responsibilities
- Work alongside the Accounting and Finance Team
- Assist the property finance team with daily accounting functions such as accounts payable, accounts receivable, and reconciliations.
Support the preparation of monthly financial statements and related reporting.
Gain exposure to forecasting, budgeting, and variance analysis at the property level.
Participate in audits, compliance reviews, and internal control procedures.
Observe how finance partners with operations to drive profitability.
Use hotel accounting systems (such as PeopleSoft, Birchstreet, or PMS systems) under supervision.
Shadow property finance leaders and attend professional development sessions as part of Highgate’s internship curriculum.
- Participate in month-end close process, prepare journal entries, reconciliations and month end financial statements
- Assist with various projects as needed
- Must be able to multitask and prioritize departmental functions to meet deadlines.
- Must be able to maintain confidentiality of information
Qualifications
- Bachelor's in Accounting, Finance, or Hospitality Finance (in progress) or a similar degree
- Minimum Junior status
- Knowledge of Accounting and/or Finance principals
- Advanced Microsoft Excel (pivot tables and reports) and PowerPoint skills
- Must be organized with the ability to work accurately in a time-efficient manner
- Ability to participate in a 10-week program (June - August)
- This position requires an applicant to work onsite
