Overview

We are seeking a motivated and experienced automotive service leader to oversee daily operations in a fast-paced dealership service department. This role is responsible for delivering exceptional customer experiences, supporting team performance, and ensuring efficient, high-quality service operations. The ideal candidate brings strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills, along with a commitment to operational excellence and customer satisfaction.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage day-to-day service department operations to ensure an efficient and customer-focused workflow.
  • Oversee service advisors, technicians, and support staff to promote teamwork, accountability, and productivity.
  • Monitor repair order progress, scheduling, and workflow to improve shop efficiency and customer turnaround time.
  • Maintain strong customer relationships by addressing concerns professionally and resolving issues in a timely manner.
  • Support team development through coaching, training, and performance feedback.
  • Track departmental performance against key metrics, including customer satisfaction, labor sales, productivity, and profitability.
  • Ensure compliance with dealership policies, manufacturer standards, safety procedures, and industry regulations.
  • Collaborate with parts, sales, warranty, and administrative teams to support smooth operations.
  • Review and approve estimates, repair recommendations, and warranty-related documentation as needed.
  • Identify opportunities to improve processes, increase efficiency, and strengthen overall department performance.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience in automotive service management, assistant management, or a related leadership role.
  • Strong knowledge of dealership service operations, customer service best practices, and repair order processes.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, coach, and motivate a team in a high-volume environment.
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and conflict-resolution skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining accuracy and professionalism.
  • Working knowledge of service department performance metrics and operational reporting.
  • Familiarity with dealership management systems and standard office software.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; additional education or manufacturer training is a plus.
