Sports Information Assistant
McMurry UniversityMajor/Essential Duties of the Job:
- Coordinate department photography and videography, including headshots, team photos, media day, promo videos, and action photos.
- Coordinate and produce all live video streaming for all home events, as well as produce video content for the website.
- Create and manage content (photography, videography, and graphics) for the McMurry Athletics social media portfolio (Instagram, Facebook, X), with a specific priority on enhancing department branding initiatives.
- Assume other projects and duties as assigned and agreed upon by the Sports Information Director and Athletics Director.
- Assist in all daily operations of the Sports Information office, working under the Director of Sports Information.
- Serve as a secondary communications contact for other sports as needed.
- Assist with managing, creating, and strategizing creative digital content for the department’s social media channels for athletic game days.
- Coordinate media credential requests, arrange interviews for coaches, student-athletes, and staff, and handle any other media requests.
- Coordinate all aspects of media coverage for home events, utilizing modern technology to accommodate media productions. Support special athletic events, including the Wally Award ceremony, Jimmy Lee Pierce Golf Classic, and other events as directed by the Athletics Director and Sports Information Director.
- Maintain and oversee athletics media and game day equipment and manage post-event reporting and documentation requirements.
- Keep statistics, maintain program records, and track statistics for teams.
- Experience with NCAA live stats and Presto.
- Write features and press releases, and participate in some public address, radio, and/or video work.
- Help with the recruitment, training, scheduling, and supervision of student workers/assistants.
Preferred Education/Experience:
• Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Sports Management, Journalism, or a related field. • 2-3 years of experience in sports information, media relations, or a related role. • Proficiency with digital media tools, including web content management systems, social media platforms, and graphic design software.
