Café Assistant

Job Overview:

Pay Range: $17.00hr - $30.00hr

Requirement/Must Have:

• High school graduate or equivalent GED.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to communicate effectively with stakeholders and provide excellent customer service.
• Ability to perform basic mathematics including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.

Responsibilities:

• Set up and break down the coffee service area.
• Obtain pots, utensils, food, and non-food items for the serving area prior to, during, and after service.
• Prepare coffee, tea, and assorted beverages and arrange equipment for service.
• Clean related equipment including coffee machines, toasters, bakery cases, bagel racks, trucks, and refrigerators using appropriate solutions.
• Serve food items to customers adhering to portion control and service standards.
• Maintain adequate supply of food and non-food items in refrigerators, cases, and cabinets.
• Observe safety, proper food handling, storage, and food temperature control procedures.
• Cut, tray, and transport food items from the bake shop and manage storage or disposal of leftovers.
• Clean preparation areas by washing walls, counters, ceilings, doors, and windows.
• Receive, replenish, and store supply items in appropriate locations.
• Assist customers in a courteous and helpful manner and promote food sales.
• Accurately ring in food purchases and follow established cash handling and debiting procedures.
• Document errors in cashing procedures according to policy.
• Sweep and mop floors and clean food service equipment.
• Navigate and work effectively within a cramped workspace.

Qualification And Education:

• High School Diploma or GED.
• 1-3 years of cashiering experience preferred.

Physical Requirements(Due to nature of job, The candidate must have):

• Ability to stand for 100% of the workday.
• Ability to bend, stoop, reach, and lift weights averaging 10 lbs.
• Ability to lift 30 lbs.
• Ability to push and pull carts averaging 40 lbs.
• Ability to immerse hands in soap, rinse, and sanitizing solutions.
