About this position: Acting Lieutenant                          Location – El Paso, TX

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Observe shift muster, provide pass down to the oncoming shift, conduct personnel inspections, and forward discrepancy reports to Management as necessary.

• Directly supervise Shift Supervisors in the performance of their duties and ensure compliance with company policy, ICE policy, PBNDS, PREA, Facility SOPs, post orders, and other applicable requirements.

• Supervise daily shift operations and ensure Detention Officers are properly assigned, equipped, and performing their duties in accordance with established requirements.

• Ensure detainee counts and other required accountability procedures are completed accurately and at prescribed times.

• Review Supervisor Post Checks and prepare the Daily Operations Summary.

• Act as Incident Commander in conjunction with ICE during emergency situations and significant incidents.

• Respond to incidents occurring during the assigned shift and provide leadership, direction, and coordination as necessary.

• Supervise the preparation of incident reports and other required documentation. Ensure Management and Agency personnel are notified of serious incidents and reports are completed and submitted in a timely manner.

• Conduct or oversee employee and detainee injury investigations in accordance with applicable policies and procedures.

• Review Records of Presence and other accountability documentation to ensure shift personnel have properly signed in and out.

• Conduct and verify daily inventories of controlled equipment and ensure discrepancies are immediately reported.

• Prepare performance appraisals for Shift Supervisors and provide ongoing feedback regarding performance, accountability, and adherence to established standards.

• Provide leadership and direction to employees while maintaining professionalism, consistency, and accountability throughout the shift.

• Assist with resolving personnel, operational, and facility issues and elevate significant concerns to Management as appropriate.

• Maintain effective communication with Management, ICE personnel, Shift Supervisors, Detention Officers, and other facility departments.

• Ensure proper shift pass down and continuity of operations between outgoing and incoming leadership.

• Perform other duties as assigned by Management.

Required (Minimum Necessary) Qualifications

Level of Experience Requirements: Education Requirements: High school diploma or equivalent.

• Minimum of six months of experience at the El Paso Service Processing Center.

• Trained and familiar with applicable policies and procedures contained within the Control Center PQS       Booklet.

• Ability to obtain and maintain the required PSU clearance.

• Ability to meet all physical requirements established by the contract.

• Ability to work rotating shifts, including days, evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays, as required.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Other Characteristics

• Ability to communicate clearly and professionally, both orally and in writing.

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite programs and other computer systems required to perform assigned duties.

• Strong working knowledge of camp operations, facility procedures, post orders, and operational requirements.

• Ability to effectively supervise employees and provide clear direction during routine operations, emergencies, and significant incidents.

• Ability to exercise sound judgment and make timely decisions in a detention environment.

• Ability to maintain professionalism, accountability, and consistency when supervising employees.

• Ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities and adapt to changing operational needs.

Preferred

·         Bachelor’s degree in a related field.

 

·         Previous supervisory or leadership experience in detention, corrections, military, law enforcement, security, or a related environment.

 

·         Demonstrated knowledge of ICE policies, PBNDS, PREA, Facility SOPs, and detention facility operations.

Required to stand, walk, sit, bend, stoop, and climb stairs for prolonged periods of time.

• Must be able to grip, squeeze, and repetitively use fine hand movements.

• Must be able to run with a fire extinguisher for long distances if necessary.

• Required to frequently lift up to 50 lbs.

• Required to occasionally lift more than 50 lbs.

• Must be physically capable of responding to emergency situations that could include fire or physical altercations

 

Work Environment

Work is in a correctional facility requiring attentiveness to surroundings and safety.

• Includes all areas of the secured facility. Often work alone or with minimal supervision.

• May be exposed to sharp objects or bloodborne pathogens.

• Exposure to outdoor sun and climate conditions for 8 or more hours is possible.

• Sitting for long periods of time in an office environment for 8 or more hours per day.

• Exposure to noise may be frequent.

• Exposure to chemicals.

 

Additional Qualifying Factors

As a condition of employment, you will be required to pass a pre-employment drug screening and have acceptable background check results. If applicable to the contract, you must also obtain and maintain the appropriate clearance levels required and must also be able to obtain access to military installations.
